5 Book Recommendations for Your New Years’ Resolution Reading

by Norah Jewett ’25

Are you looking for something good to read this upcoming February? It turns out many people are having trouble finding a good book to pick up. So, here is a small list of books I greatly enjoyed.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: It was one of the books on the 2021 summer reading list. If you enjoy heists, magic, and absolute chaos, then you’ll like this book. Six misfits trying to pull off an impossible heist, what can go wrong?

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig: A more underrated book recommendation, this book carried a lot of meaning behind it. The whole concept of a family with the daughters getting killed off proves to be an interesting read.

House of Dragons by Jessica Cluess: This battle for the throne is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat with likable characters, a messed up plot and an elaborate fantasy world.

The Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe: This book is based on the true story of Auschwitz survivor Dita Kraus. This heart-wrenching story takes place in one of history’s darkest moments, showcasing the life of a Jewish prisoner during the Holocaust trying to keep the magic of books alive.

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer: This book is kinda like a retelling of Beauty and the Beast in a way. It’s part of a trilogy, and the whole concept of enchantresses, princesses and a kingdom in need of saving is sure to keep you occupied.
