Prom is one of the most anticipated events in high school, and the BHS class of 2024 recently had theirs at the DoubleTree Hotel in Danvers. Social media feeds were filled with photos of the juniors enjoying their night with friends. I recently caught up with one of my closest friends, Emma Conlon to get her thoughts on attending the prom.
Q: How did you get invited to junior prom as a sophomore?
A: I was invited by one of my friends who’s a junior.
Q: What was your dress like?
A: I got my dress from Bec and Bridge. It’s a slip dress in a rosy gold taupe color. I wanted one I could wear to other events in the future, and I’m really happy with what I chose.
Q: Did you have a specific look you were going for?
A: I love the 90s for inspiration and I’ve always liked red carpet looks from that time. Very simple and classy, so that gave me the idea of a long slip dress. I love the simplistic design.
Q: Was there any inspiration you drew from film, red carpets, etc for your dress and makeup?
A: I love Vogue beauty secrets, and I always follow a couple when I’m going out or going somewhere special. For prom this year, I used “Hailey Bieber’s Date Night Skin Care & Makeup Routine” for inspiration, as well as Emily Ratajakowski’s “Date Night Look.” I love glowy and natural looking makeup, so I used cream products, shimmery eyeshadow and lots of bronzer.
Q: Something that surprised you at prom?
A: This was my first prom, so I honestly had no idea what to expect. Everyone was dancing with each other and it didn’t feel like anyone was left out, we were all together.
Q: Did it live up to your expectations?
A: I didn’t really have any expectations to begin with, but it was a really fun high school experience, and I’ll never forget it.
Q: What was your favorite part of the night?
A: I think talking and dancing with people I wouldn’t normally, was my favorite part of the night. I got a chance to talk and get to know people I probably wouldn’t have met otherwise.
