Last September, BHS students Sydney Anderson and Andrew Samperi, along with Marketing teacher Kris Mareschalchi, and Accomplish Program teachers Molly Benson and Adrianne Manis founded the Carbon Less Accomplish More initiative at the school. The initiative began as a way for Anderson and Samperi to aid the Accomplish Program in installing the new Waste Diversion Program in the BHS Cafeteria, but soon morphed into a larger movement. “The overall goal is just to create and continue to spread awareness around our community,” said Anderson. “There’s always more to be done so we don’t see an “end goal” to any of this, we’re just going to do this until we can’t.”
Through use of social media platforms on Instagram and Facebook (@CarbonLessAccomplishMore), the initiative has gained momentum around the BHS community. On November 7th, Carbon Less Accomplish More will host a pop-up thrift store at the school from 10am-4pm. All items will be sold for a cheap price, mostly under $5, and money made from the event will be donated to the city of Beverly to help it become more sustainable and eco-friendly. Donations will be accepted until October 24th so that proper quarantining can be implemented.
