A Guide to an Inexpensive Boston Summer

There is a reason Boston is such a popular city in the Summer. With the lush greenery and the warm weather, you can find countless outdoor and indoor activities for friends, family, or yourself. Below are just a few ideas of ways to get out of the house, enjoy seasonal activities, and have some fun without spending a lot, or any money!

  1. Outdoor Movies

If you’re looking for a free evening activity suitable for all, Boston’s selection of outdoor movies is perfect for you. There are movies at a wide selection of locations such as the beach, courtyard, mansion yard, and more!   1. Water activities on the Charles River

There are quite a few places available that allow you to rent kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards to explore the waters of Boston. You can also take rowing or sailing classes which are accessible to all abilities and ages. 

  1. Picnic in a Park

The Public Gardens, Charles River Esplanade, and Arnold Arboretum are beautiful locations to relax and the sun and while enjoying some local or homemade food. The flowers, trees, and water are a stunning sight and a great picture location too!

  1. The Freedom Trail

There isn’t a better time than the summer to enjoy the rich history of Massachusetts. From Paul Revere’s House, to the Boston Tea Party, and the sight of the Boston Massacre, you can’t get enough from the educational trail that will take you around the wonderful beginnings of Boston. 

  1. Activities for Kids

The Science Museum and Boston Children’s Museum are great, entertaining, and enriching activities that are relatively inexpensive. The New England Aquarium and Franklin Park Zoo are perfect if your child is an animal lover, and the LEGO Discovery Center and Ice Cream Museum are unique options for all ages!
