BHS Freshmen Share Early Impressions of Pantherhood

By River Washburn ‘30

The BHS freshman class has been in high school for only a few weeks. The Ledger spoke with some of our community’s newest members to hear their first impressions of life at BHS. Students noted differences in their everyday school experiences.

“I like the pace of my classes,” Skylar Tassone, ‘30, said.

Beverly High School’s 75-minute classes are about 50% longer than those at BMS.

”Classes feel less rushed, and subjects are more in-depth,” Tigran Goodwin, ’30, added.

Students contrasted high school academics with their middle school experiences.

“The work is harder but still manageable,” De La Cruz said.

The alternating calendar marks a major change from the waterfall schedule at BMS.

“I like the Panther-Pride schedule because it helps my homework not pile up,” Goodwin said.

A sense of newfound freedom was a consistent theme.

“I enjoy the freedom compared to middle school,” freshman Brandon Goggin said.

What have been the highlights so far?

“Having phones during school hours, choosing courses, and having less constant teacher supervision,” De La Cruz said. “I like the independence.”
