METG, or more commonly known as DramaFest, is most basically described as competitive theater—forty minutes to perform a one act play in front of a panel of judges, five minutes for the crew to set up the entire set. Time is of the essence for this particular commitment. Run over time, and your play will be cut off, finished or not.
This year, DramaFest will be held here in Beverly, over at the middle school. Due to the Anastasia production being in tech week, the high school auditorium will be unavailable, so the middle school was offered as an alternative. A total of five other schools will be participating this year, all with a wide variety of different plays to perform.
Beverly High School has chosen to perform an Oscar Wilde play, Lady Windermere’s Fan. This work was a four-act play cut down to one act of four scenes. Mia Contilli plays the lead role as Lady Windermere as she tries to uncover the secrets between her husband and a strange woman named Mrs. Erlynne.
DramaFest will take place on the 19th. Make sure you stop by BMS to watch the performances. BHS is on at 10:30. Admissions are $15, but you can stay for as many of the plays as you wish!
