Community in Clubs is a series here on the Ledger where we join clubs in our school and dissect our experiences! Our goal is to encourage community involvement and spread the word about what students are doing! Scroll below for a summary or read on for a detailed view!
For this issue, we explored the Knit and Crochet Club. The club was created just recently, in February of this year. Furthermore, it teaches beginners how to knit and crochet in order to make personalized creative projects with yarn. They begin with easier projects and progress to more advanced-style projects over time. The Knit and Crochet Club welcomes all members, no matter their skill level and experience, and creates a calming setting to learn and create.
Walking through the door, you automatically see multiple members bonding over their creations. New members were offered yarn, crochet hooks, or knitting needles courtesy of the club leaders who were also willing to teach beginners how to knit or crochet. Their first project was making pot holders and everyone was working away while chatting and laughing. Some members even brought in knit or crochet projects from home that they would continue to work on.
Overall, this is a great environment for beginners and members alike to work on new knitting and crocheting skills, engage in a new hobby, and even find time to finish a personal project.
The Knit and Crochet Club is constantly moving fast with new projects ranging in difficulty. Each meeting tackles a new craft! If you are looking for a club to help pick up a new hobby, express creativity, make friends, and learn a new skill, join the club after school in room 222 on Monday after school! Your creativity and presence would be greatly valued.
