A survey was recently conducted to ask students about their stress levels relating to school-specific issues. About 140 students contributed and gave their honest opinion on how stressful school is to them or how it’s not. On a scale of 1 to 10, 81% of kids said that school causes them stress in the range of 6 or higher. 65% of students are worried about their grades dropping, making them stress over completing things on time or trying to get everything correct on what they need to turn in. 40% of students said that they understand half or most of the things they are being taught in the classroom. And 46% of the students stress about how difficult it is to keep things in order and keep their homework on track.
Overall, students said that they find it hard to understand the topics, keep their homework the main priority, and trying to keep their grades at a standard of which they and their parents would like them at. Many students said that the faculty notices these common stress issues, but don’t think that they do anything to help the students. Other issues that cause stress on the students are some reported cases of bullying, too many extra activities after school, and having too much homework, to begin with. Most of the people said that having a mental health day or some days to reflect on how they and their peers could focus better on not stressing over simple things and how the teachers can do better to help the students
