On January 24th, members of BHS’s Environmental Club organized a bake sale outside of the cafeteria for Australian Wildlife Relief. Half of the money went to the Australian Red Cross, the other half to the World Wildlife Foundation.
The students overall raised $464 from the purchases of baked goods by fellow BHS peers and teachers. The Australian fires, a result of extreme heat and a prolonged drought, have resulted in the deaths of millions of animals and the destruction of wildlife habitats. Both the Australian Red Cross and WWF have been working to minimize the impact of the bushfires on both animals and the Australian people.
The Environmental Club sold dozens of different items, from Earth sugar cookies to soft pretzels, taking advance orders as well.
