The Show Must Go On: Panther News

By Adelaide Maloney ’22

In years past, BHS students have filmed a school news show, airing on local television and online.

This year is no different in that regard, and though some means of production are changing this year, Beverly students are working to produce this year’s Panther News program. It airs through the local public access network, BevCam. There have certainly been challenges to production this year: students are unable to use certain resources such as cameras or the BevCam studio, but they have managed to create a high quality student production nonetheless.

Panther News takes a magazine format, where students are able to report upon things that interest them. This is opposed to a strict news show, where only the most topical of BHS’ happenings could be reported on.

Students choose the stories they wish to report upon, and they are able to fully create those stories to be segments in a larger episode. Since students can report on what they find interesting, this format allows for a distinct representation of BHS’ student body and of the students who create the show.

Panther News can be watched on BevCam. Visit Channel 22 or the YouTube page BevCam Education for episodes.
