The Panthers’ boys basketball team is the highlight of Beverly sports so far. The team started off hot with victories over Peabody (81-39) and Marblehead (61-42). They then entered the 2025 Merrimack College Commonwealth Motors Christmas Classic, facing a hard matchup against St John’s Prep. The team displayed incredible defense, scoring, and collaboration, taking down St John’s Prep 77-40, to become the number one seed in the tournament and moving on to the semi-finals against Andover. Once again, the Panthers played strongly, with a mix of scoring from star players such as Jacob Klass and Andrew Braganca. The team rolled the Golden Warriors 74-58, advancing to the finals, where they would have to face arguably the best in Massachusetts, the Central Catholic Raiders. While they put up a fight, the boys ended up losing 76-62, their first loss of the season. The Panthers last played on Monday, January 5th, 2026, defeating the Danvers Falcons (80-36).
Additionally, both Beverly’s boys and girls varsity hockey teams have been performing well. The boys’ team started off the season with a two-game winning streak, beating Peabody (7-3) and Amesbury (5-2). Their team suffered its first loss against Shawsheen Valley Vocational Tech (5-2). They then beat Pentucket Regional High School (4-2) at home, and lost their next game away against Amesbury (4-3). The hockey team’s most recent game was on January 3rd with an overtime tie against the Danvers Falcons (4-4). The players have proven to be significant at scoring and will continue to find success with star players Logan Bowen, Anthony Barror, and Nate Wheeler.
The Panthers girls’ hockey team had an almost perfect December, going 4-1. The team started their season with four straight victories: 7-5 against Gloucester, 3-1 against Peabody, 4-2 against Medfield, and 5-2 against Wakefield. The girls faced their first loss on December 30th, in a tight 2-1 loss against Wakefield. The team played their most recent game on January 3rd, beating Gloucester 5-2. They are led by seniors Meredith Johnston, Addison Shepard, and Morgan Linksy.
The rest of the BHS teams have limited data for records and statistics, but both indoor track teams, gymnastics, and wrestling have talented players who will continue to prosper throughout the winter season.
