Looking for a fun autumn treat to enjoy while the months turn colder? Try baking some pumpkin bread for you and your family to enjoy. To bake this fall treat, you will need:
- 3 cups of sugar, granulated
- 3 ½ cups of flour, all-purpose
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 2 teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup of vegetable oil
- 2 cups of cooked pumpkin
- ⅔ cup of water
- 1 ½ cups of chopped walnuts (OPTIONAL)
This recipe will make two loaves of pumpkin bred, so half or double the recipe to your liking.
Here are the steps:
- First, Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
- Butter your two loaf pans.
- Shift the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients, and add the eggs, vegetable oil, pumpkin and water in said well.
- Beat thoroughly. (It’s easier to get out the lumps if you use an electric mixer.)
- If you choose to use walnuts, stir them in with a wooden spoon.
- Pour the batter into the pans, filling to only about a half to two-thirds full.
- Bake for 60-90 minutes, depending on the size of your pans. (If you use a small pan, check earlier than you would with a larger pan.) It is done when a toothpick is stuck into the center of the bread and comes out clean.
- Cool for about 10 minutes, before loosening edges with a knife.
Enjoy your autumn treat!
