Water is a resource undeniably crucial to our survival. Though we are privileged with access to clean and safe water available to us at any given moment, many of us remain unaware of the crisis faced by so many around the world who lack the luxury of taking this basic necessity for granted. In hopes of spreading this message to those uninformed of this critical issue and its urgency, Beverly High School’s chapter of Key Clubs International hosted an awareness event on March 22nd, which marks World Water Day.
The Key Club invited students to come to school on the 22nd dressed in blue attire to help celebrate the day. In the morning at a station set up in front of the cafeteria, club members and BHS staff offered free bottled water to students passing by, each bottle marked with numbers that entered students in a drawing; those whose numbers were selected received reusable bottles designed by Panther Press. In addition, a vibrant poster board was displayed featuring informational graphics about World Water Day.
“BHS Key Club is taking this day to inform all of you about the world water crisis as young people are the engine of the change!” stated the club on their Instagram page.
