On March 1st, BHS’s Stage Right Drama Club participated in the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild’s DramaFestival, a day of competitive theater amongst high schools across the state. Last year, the club successfully moved on to the next round with their production of Medea, a feat that had not been accomplished by BHS since pre-COVID. Even then, the club had only moved past the preliminary round a handful of times.
But this year, Stage Right successfully moved on once again this year, with their production of Shakespeare’s famous comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Twice in a row now, the students have made it to the next round despite competing against schools with much larger theater departments and budgets. Beverly has indeed earned its place among other big-named theater schools.
Next, the club will be competing in the Semi-Final round on March 15th at Andover High School against five other schools. Beverly goes on at 1:30, so consider showing up to show these students some support!
