Bored In Beverly?

By: Olivia Galui and Danika Mansfield ‘29

Bored on the weekend and looking to keep busy with friends or family? Well, you’re in luck! We’ve created a list of fun, interesting, and inexpensive activities all located in Beverly, perfect for if you’re either just visiting or are a permanent resident. With Beverly being named the hottest zip code this year, there’s surely something here for everyone to enjoy.

#1 David S. Lynch Memorial Park

One of the cheapest and arguably the most beautiful spot in the Essex County area, David S. Lynch Memorial Park (or Lynch Park). The public park offers a variety of experiences for all ages. It’s the perfect spot to go in the warmer months, and includes a beach area, splash pad, playground, Salty’s ice cream shop, a stunning rose garden, and a large field to hold outdoor activities. It is located near downtown Beverly on Ober Street, and open from 6 am to 10 pm (except for select holidays). Free concerts, performances, and outdoor movies are often held on the stage, allowing people to set up lawn chairs and blankets on the field to enjoy the show.  Parking is free for all Beverly residents, and visitors can either pay the small fee or park nearby and walk the short distance instead.

#2 Clay Dreaming

In the mood to embrace your creative side? Check out Clay Dreaming Pottery Studio, located at 186 Cabot Street. The charming pottery painting studio provides a calming atmosphere for an outing with friends or family. There is a small entrance fee, but the total cost varies depending on the piece you decide to paint. Additionally, Clay Dreaming also offers birthday parties and pottery classes, which you can learn more about on their website at https://claydreaming.com/

#3 Beverly Public Library

From cozy winter reads to spooky thrillers, the Beverly Public Library has it all. Residents are offered a wide range of books, with kids’, teen, and adult reader sections. Additionally, the library is equipped with modern computers and free internet access, allowing visitors to work, study, explore digital resources, or even play video games with friends. Beyond its physical space, the library hosts numerous events throughout the year, such as story times for young children, STEM explorations, murder mystery games, crafternoons, and other seasonal-themed activities. Another standout feature is the bookmobile, a mobile library that carries books and resources directly to neighborhoods, schools, and parks, ensuring that everyone has access to these materials. Together, these offerings make the Beverly Public Library a great place to get involved in the community, pursue education, and experience cultural enrichment. If you’d like to visit the library’s website, you can visit https://beverlypubliclibrary.org/.
